(1) Sandbelt too soft
This question usually occurs on the sand belt of animal glue, especially during the dry season. Animal glue is slightly hygroscopic and becomes soft and sticky. Therefore, in dry or humid areas, sand belts produced with semi resin or full resin binders should be selected. It is not advisable to fold the sanding tape packaging of animal glue too early to prevent excessive moisture absorption. If conditions permit, it is also possible to dry or dry the animal glue after being exposed to moisture, but the temperature should not be too high to prevent foaming or coking of the adhesive layer.
(2) The abrasive is slightly dull but does not fall
When grinding with abrasive belts, if the contact wheel is too soft, there may be a situation where the abrasive on the sand surface does not fall but is not sharp. If such a situation occurs, grinding pressure should be added, or harder contact wheels should be replaced, or contact wheels with wider gears should be replaced, or contact wheels with smaller diameters should be replaced, or the linear speed of the sand belt should be reduced, etc., in order to deal with the situation where the sand surface is not sharp.
(3) Simple sand removal, exposed base
This is mainly due to the weak bonding of abrasive particles, and the sand belt should be replaced. Perhaps a softer contact wheel or a larger diameter contact wheel should be selected to increase the curvature radius of the sand belt and reduce grinding pressure, or a narrower gear contact wheel should be selected to advance the linear speed of the sand belt.
(4) Abrasive layer blockage
The main reason is that the selection of sand belts is incorrect. If processing paint, it is advisable to use sand belts with extra coatings. For example, when processing soft metal materials such as aluminum alloy, stainless steel, copper, etc., it is advisable to use water resistant sand belts that are resistant to smoothness and coolant to resist water and moisture. When grinding wood and its products, it is advisable to choose abrasive materials such as black silicon carbide or brown corundum.
