The impact of water resistance on service life and special handling
Impact: Latex paper sandpaper has great water resistance because of its water-resistant latex or the kraft paper base material that's been treated for waterproofing. This means it can be used in damp places and even for grinding directly in water without losing its performance like regular paper-based sandpaper does when it absorbs water. The water resistance makes latex paper sandpaper do a good job in situations where grinding with water is needed, like when grinding the surface of cars or the putty on walls.
Special handling: Even though latex paper sandpaper is water-resistant, when it's used in a damp environment for a long time, it's still a good idea to take some steps to make it last longer. For instance, dry it right after using it and don't let it soak in water for too long. When storing it, choose a dry and well-ventilated place to keep the moisture out.
The impact of temperature resistance on service life and special handling
Impact: Sandpaper is usually made up of paper, resin, abrasive grains, fillers, and so on. These materials will change physically and chemically when they're exposed to high temperatures, which makes the performance of the sandpaper go down. Even though latex paper sandpaper has some temperature resistance, really high temperatures can still cause damage to it. High temperatures might make the grinding power of the sandpaper go down, the resin might deform, or even make the sandpaper break.
Special handling: When using latex paper sandpaper in high-temperature environments, you need to pay special attention to its temperature resistance range. Generally speaking, the high-temperature resistance range of sandpaper is about 80°C to 120°C. If you have to use it in high temperatures, it's better to choose types of sandpaper that have better temperature resistance or take some cooling measures, like using cooling water or improving ventilation. At the same time, when storing the sandpaper in high-temperature environments, avoid direct sunlight and really hot places to stop the sandpaper's performance from being damaged.
