Technological Innovation: Pile-up Abrasive Process Enhances Processing Efficiency
According to industry experts, this type of abrasive belt adopts an innovative pile-up abrasive technology. Through a multi-layer abrasive composite structure, it significantly enhances the durability and grinding efficiency of the abrasive belt. Experimental data shows that its service life is increased by more than 40% compared to traditional abrasive belts. In high-precision processing scenarios such as aerospace aluminum alloy components and automotive engine crankshafts, the surface roughness can be controlled within Ra0.2μm, reaching international advanced levels. The R&D director of Yuli Group stated: "This product has broken through the technical bottleneck of domestic abrasive belts in heavy-duty grinding and has been batch-applied in the production of components for the domestic large aircraft C919."
Exhibition Highlights: Intelligent Grinding System Leads Industry Upgrading
At the 18th China International Machine Tool Exhibition (CIMT 2025) held in April 2025, the new bowl-shaped grinding wheel products launched by Finnish MIRKA Grindking Company became the focus. The high-precision automated grinding system that comes with it, through laser positioning and AI pressure control, achieves automated compensation for complex surface processing, increasing processing efficiency by 35%. This system has been implemented in domestic new energy vehicle battery tray production lines, with a single line annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 pieces. During the same period of the exhibition, Shandong Sunquan New Materials showcased phenolic resin-based coated abrasives, which demonstrated excellent anti-static performance in the grinding of 3C electronic glass, reducing the scrap rate to below 0.3%.
Market Insights: Export Growth Coexists with Trade Challenges
According to data from the Abrasive Tools Network, the industry's export value increased by 12% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, with sandpaper and abrasive cloth products accounting for 58% of the total exports. Notably, the 25% tariff imposed by the United States on auto parts has led to an 8% to 15% increase in export costs for domestic related enterprises. Industry analysts point out: "The process of domestic substitution for high-end coated abrasives is accelerating. Technological breakthroughs by enterprises such as Yuli and Shengquan will effectively alleviate the reliance on imported high-end products."
Policy Empowerment: Strategic Position Continuously Rising
With the in-depth implementation of the "Made in China 2025" strategy, coated abrasives, as precision processing consumables, have been included in the list of key new materials. The Economic and Information Technology Commission of Hubei Province stated that it will increase support for innovative enterprises such as Yuli Group and plans to build a national-level coated abrasive technology center within three years. Industry insiders predict that by 2026, the market size of high-end coated abrasives in China is expected to exceed 12 billion yuan, and the domestic production rate will increase from the current 35% to over 50%.
The awarding of this honor to Hubei Yuli Abrasives not only recognizes the company's technological strength, but also reflects the firm steps taken by the domestic coated abrasive industry towards high-end and intelligent development. Driven by both policy and market forces, the industry is now entering a critical window period for transformation and upgrading.
