The making of aluminum oxide sandpaper starts with getting the base material ready and picking it carefully. The base material is like the support for the sandpaper, and picking the right one is super important. It has to be strong enough and flexible in the right way, so that it can carry the abrasive steadily during grinding and can fit all kinds of curved surfaces easily. The common base materials are mainly paper and cloth. We choose them depending on what we need to use them for.
Then, it's time to put on the adhesive. The adhesive is really important for sticking the abrasive to the base material firmly. It needs to be really good at sticking and be able to handle different weather conditions. Adhesives like resin or cellulose acetate are used a lot because they work well in general. In this step, we have to control exactly how much adhesive we put on to make sure the abrasive is spread evenly and the sandpaper is durable overall.
Next, we spread the aluminum oxide abrasive evenly. The abrasive is picked based on how big or small the particles are to fit different grinding needs. The smaller the particles, the more delicate the grinding effect is. The bigger the particles, the better it is for taking off the rough layer on the surface of the material quickly. With special spreading techniques, we make sure the aluminum oxide abrasive covers the base material with the adhesive evenly.
After spreading the abrasive, the whole thing needs to go through a curing process. This process makes the bond between the adhesive, the base material, and the abrasive stronger, and also makes the structure of the sandpaper more stable. We have to control the curing conditions, like the temperature and the time, really strictly to get the best sticking effect and the best performance of the sandpaper.
Finally, after some other steps like cutting, checking, and packaging, one by one, the aluminum oxide sandpapers that meet the quality standards are finished and ready to go to the market to meet all kinds of needs for industrial grinding and polishing.
